This was a great day/night of basketball!

Both the Manson girls and boys battled back for wins.

We never had the lead until a little under five minutes left in the game, when our defense really took over. The girls fought through injuries (Angelica, Lia and Cheyanne,) foul trouble (Jackie, Sierra and Abby) and Christmas vacations (Ofelia, Thalia and Ofelia) to get this victory. Two players had to play the entire game (Hailey and Sierra) and another (Cheyanne) played over thirty-one minutes due to our foul trouble and lonely bench. Tonight truly showed how important it is to be so well conditioned; which our girls really are.

During the first half we had trouble doing what we normally like to do; thus Wilson creeks' holly Wilson really hurt us until halftime when we were able to adjust some things and really began to slow her down. Sierra Miller did a tremendous job defensively on her during the second half.

We had a rough game offensively shooting 14-68 from the field and 8-23 from the line, but luckily our team defense and rebounding really stepped it up tonight. Wilson finished with twenty points most of them in the first half. As a team we came up with twenty-three steals to go along with fifty-two rebounds.

Once again we had a great Manson crowd for both games, and our cheerleaders did an awesome job getting our fans excited about both of the very competitive games. A lot of credit needs to go to those girls for all of their hard work to become great cheerleaders!
We start league play Tuesday at Bridgeport, where we hope to have most of our team back from vacations and injuries. We still haven't played a single game with our entire varsity team.

Cheyanne McFadden grabbed four rebounds to go with her two points before she hurt her elbow. Lia Verduzco was playing well until she hurt her ankle in the second quarter, yet she still grabbed three rebounds. Sierra Miller had an unbelievable game on defense guarding Wilson creeks' best player most the game, she also hit two huge free-throws in the fourth quarter. Jackie Guillen had to sit much of the game with fouls, but still managed to get six steals and six boards. Hailey Ellsworth was a leader in many aspects of the game for us again, she finished with a double-double in points and rebounds. Abby Bridgewater also finished the game with a double-double in points and rebounds. Itzel Castro continued her improvement as she grabbed 7 rebounds and hit two clutch free-throws in the fourth quarter.

McFadden: 2 points, 1-7 field, 4 rebounds, 7 turnovers, 5 assists, 2 steals
Verduzco: 0-3 field, 5 rebounds, 2 turnovers, 2 steals
Miller: 4 points, 1-6 field, 2-2 line, 3 rebounds, 2 turnovers, 1 steal
Guillen: 0-7 field, 6 rebounds, 6 turnovers, 1 assist, 6 steals
Ellsworth: 17 points, 7-20 field, 2-10 line, 10 rebounds, 6 turnovers, 7 assists, 3 steals
Bridgewater: 10 points, 4-19 field, 2-9 line, 16 rebounds, 4 turnovers, 7 steals
Castro: 4 points, 1-6 field, 2-2 line, 7 rebounds, 3 turnovers, 3 steals
