Manson Trojans Secure Spot in District Play Offs!
Manson 55 - Pateros 33
Friday, October 29th, 2010
Coach Barnes reports:
Mansonís Carlos Pineda returned the gameís opening kick-off 80 yards for a touchdown and kicked the extra point. Pineda was 7 of 8 on PATís.
Pateros answered with an eight yard TD pass from Zach Lambert to Blayne Harvey. Lambert and Harvey hooked up for 9 catches 132 yards and 4 TDís and a two point conversion. Jerry Figueroa had 213 yards on 25 carries and one TD for the Billy Goats.
With barely a minute left in the first quarter playing fullback for his first time, Casey Sorensen found the end zone on a 68 yard run. Casey had 4 rushes for 139 yards and 2 TDís. Casey was growling and breaking tackles all game.
Javier Guillen had 9 carries for 180 yards rushing, one reception for a 58 yard TD, for total of 238 yards and four TDís.
Nate Coggins was 4 for 7 for 105 yards passing and one TD passing and one rushing. My favorite was 45 yard seam pass to Marcus Vanderholm. Itís a deceiving stat, all of Nateís attempts came in the first half and all be one were in the second quarter. Trojanís went into half time up 21-12.
Half time was long, being Homecoming and its entire doings. As a coach, I really dread Homecoming and its distractions; we yammered the team all week about staying focused on Friday night.
Boy; were the players focused, during the third quarter, the Trojan Offense ran 7 plays, 4 which resulted in TDís and put up 227 yards of rushing. O-line played well, Alex Fajardo had some key blocks on our counter play.
Defensively, Guillen lead all tacklers with 20. Alex and Marcus Vanderholm and Luis Vazquez had huge games on defense. Defensive ends, Fajardo, Edwardo Moreno and Emilio Alvarado did a great job turning plays inside.
Manson - 334 rushing, 105 passing, Total 439
Pateros- 257 rushing, 236 passing Total 493
Manson travels to Warden next Friday for the crossover match, winner moves on. Warden loves to sling the football 40 to 50 times a game. Weíll need to bring our A Ė game on Friday.
Thanks to all the fans who cheered us on Friday. It means a lot to the players. Coach Barnes
