The Chelan Athletic Booster Club is sponsoring the annual Chelan Lady Goat Volleyball Car Wash this coming Saturday, May 7. “We will be washing cars from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday,” writes Coach Donene Hendricks. “The proceeds will go toward fuel, lodging and food expenses for our team volleyball cam in July.”

Twenty eight volleyball players will travel to Bend, Oregon for a week long volleyball camp.

Not only did the Lady Goats win the WIAA State Volleyball Championship this past year, but the latest word from the school is that Coach Donene Hendricks has been voted “Coach of the Year” by the 1A Coaches Association. Coach Hendricks has guided the Lady Goats to the State Tournament for years and will continue next year in her capacity as head coach for the team.

In addition, the coaches selected senior outside hitter Jaicee Harris as this past year’s Most Valuable Player. Harris will be attending Washington State University this coming fall on an athletic scholarship to play volleyball.

One of the reasons Chelan always ranks high in volleyball is the effort put into the team’s training throughout the year.

The annual car wash is just one way locals can help the team continue to be successful on the volleyball court. So drive your car down to North Cascades National Bank this coming Saturday and get it washed by team members.
