Goats ready to do battle on basketball court

Coming off a close 56-49 loss to the 3A Eastmont basketball team, Coach Joe Harris was happy with his team’s first outing on the basketball court. “We need to clean up our offense a bit, but we’ve got a great nucleus to work with this year,” said Harris. “Evan Reister has stepped into a great leadership role. We’re looking for that out of Aaron McQuaid also.”
Harris also has Michael Amsel Jr. back along with Tyler James and Robin Weathesby. “We also got some great minutes out of Matt Robinson and Raven Berman.”
“We’ve got a great shot at being back on top this year, but we will have to work hard,” said Harris who remarked that Okanogan, Omak and Cashmere all have great talent.
The team hits the court at 1 p.m. in Yakima’s Sun Dome on Saturday, December 4, against East Valley for a non-league game. “They’ve got a pretty good program, so it should be a good game,” said Harris.
On Tuesday, December 7, Chelan hosts Ellensburg for another non-league game.
“We’d love to see the community come out and rock the gym,” said Harris. It will be a great opener for basketball fans to see what the Chelan Goats look like this year.
The Lady Goats begin the action at 6 p.m. followed by the Goats at 7:30 p.m.
