It’s always nice to get a tough league match out of the way early and that is what the Lady Goats did on Tuesday evening in Leavenworth when they emerged victorious over the powerful Cascade Kodiaks 19-25, 25-19, 25-14, 25-14.
“Our ball handling and blocking was a huge factor in our success tonight,” reported Coach Donene Hendricks. “The girls had to battle back after dropping the first set to a very good Cascade team.
Chelan’s Cari Williams and Courtney Dietrich combined for 13 blocks in this match. Jaicee Harris, Darcy Austin, Bree Burton and Maghara DePaoli combined for 32 digs on the back court to help lift the Goats to this win. Harris and Austin had 15 and 11 kills respectively.
The team travels to Brewster on Thursday night for a non-league match with the Lady Bears. Brewster dropped down to a ‘B’ Class school this year and no longer competes in the Caribou Trail League. That doesn’t mean the match will be boring. Brewster can be very tough on the volleyball court.
Chelan’s J.V. won their match against Cascade and the ‘C’ squad split its two sets.
Jaicee Harris had 15 kills, 12 digs and served 7/8 with an ace.
Courtney Dietrich had 7 blocks and 1 kill.
Darcy Austin had 11 kills, 10 digs and served 15/18 with 1 ace
Oliva Plew had 2 kills, 18 assists and was 10/13 serving with an ace
Cari Williams had 6 blocks, 1 kill
Abby Phelps had 3 kills, 14 assists and served 10/10
Bree Burton was 20/22 serving with an ace and had 5 digs
Mandy Robison had 3 blocks, 1 kill
Maghara DePaoli had 5 digs, and served 16/16 with 2 aces
