Lady Goats best Wenatchee in four games
First league match Tuesday in Leavenworth
by Richard Uhlhorn
“It was a fantastic match,” stated Coach Donene Hendricks. “It is the kind of match that truly helps you grow mentally and physically. Both teams played extremely hard.”
The Wenatchee Panthers came to Chelan Saturday night in hopes of repeating the one-game win over the Lady Goats that came at the Wenatchee Jamboree last week. It didn’t work out for Wenatchee as the Lady Goats defeated them in four games 25-21, 26-24, 18-25, 25-23.
Chelan looked very good in this match with everyone stepping up to beat a very strong Wenatchee team. An example of stepping up came in game two when Chelan was down 24-18 and came back to win 26-24.
Wenatchee came back in game three, winning 25-18 to force game four, but Chelan once again prevailed in a tough game to win the match.
Jaicee Harris had 24 kills and was 13/13 at the service line with two aces. She had three digs on the night. Darcy Austin combined for 8 kills, 20/21 serving and dug the ball out 7 times. Courtney Dietrich was tough on Wenatchee in the middle, blocking their attemps 6 times and coming up with 3 kills on the evening. Olivia Plew led the team in assists with 26. She also had 3 kills and 6 blocks.
The Cascade game this coming Tuesday in Leavenworth will be one of the tougher matches the Lady Goats will have this season.
Everyone is invited to cheer the Lady Goats on at Cascade. Come on out and watch these young ladies dig, pass, spike and serve up some of the best volleyball in North Central Washington.
