Chelan captures 3rd in CTL rankings

Enter District Saturday at home – Noon start

The Chelan Lady Goats fast pitch team has done well for itself this year. On Friday, May 6, the team hosted the Omak Pioneers for a doubleheader to decide who would end their season in third or fourth place in the CTL.

Chelan won both the opener and nightcap 4-3 and 4-3 in what Coach Jeff Barker called a barn burner. “We ended up one game out of second place,” said Coach Barker. “We were down 3-2 in the seventh, but the girls pulled it out,” he added. “Considering the lack of depth and how beat up we are, I’m very pleased. We’ve done pretty well.”

Barker is particularly pleased with pitcher Dani Smythe and catcher Hailey Habich. “Dani pulled a thigh muscle in the first game and pitched through 14 innings. Hailey has refused to come out despite having torn ligaments in her catching hand. She handled over 100 pitches in the doubleheader.”
