Chelan’s Golf Team took five golfers and one alternate to the WIAA State Golf Championships held in Dupont, Washington at ‘The Home Course.’ The championship took place on Monday, May 23 and Tuesday, May 24.
Cristian Krumbah was the only Chelan golfer to qualify for the second day of competition. He shot an 81, but he and his teammates all struggled on the first day of competition. Both Robert Ihlanfeldt and Zach Burchett failed to make the cut for the second day.
“On the second day of competition, the rain was coming down steadily, but Cristian played really well and came in with a 4-over 76 for a two-day total of 157, which gave him a tie for 13th place overall,” wrote Coach Kirk Einspahr.
Ihlanfeldt shot an 87, missing the cut by only two strokes. He tied for 42nd overall. Burchett shot a 97, and ended up in 70th place in the competition.
On the girls side, Sam Cooper and Lexi Burchett missed the cut on day one shooting a 102 and 106 respectively. Cooper ended up in 29th place overall and Burchett tied for 33rd.
