Chelan Goat lose in non-league action to Vashon Island

About the only good thing that can be said about Chelan’s game against the Vashon Island Pirates on Saturday, April 9, was a chance for Coach Jim Burbery to shake the team’s cobwebs from Spring Break off before facing the Omak Pioneers on Tuesday, April 12, in Omak.
“It’s tough. On break the kids aren’t getting proper sleep and haven’t been practicing,” said Burbery.
For Vashon Island it was a chance to get out of the rain and play some ball. “We’ve been rained out seven times already,” said one of their assistant coaches. “This is only our fifth game this year and one of them one yesterday against Cashmere. We’ll take the sun anytime. We love it over here. The kids have fun.”
Vashon ended up winning 14-4 in the 6th inning.
After the game, Coach Burbery said the team’s work is cut out for them. “We’ve got a lot of work to get ready for this coming week,” said Burbery.
Chelan travel’s to Omak for league action on Tuesday, April 12, and then plays a non-league game in Quincy on Thursday, April 14, before hosting the Cashmere Bulldogs on Saturday, April 16, for a double header beginning at 11 a.m.
Coach Burbery announced that Babe Ruth practice begins on Wednesday, April 20.
