Secures CTL Championship

It was a tough opponent Chelan faced on Saturday, April 29, at Beebe Bridge Park, but Chelan secured the CTL Championship by beating the Okanogan Bulldogs 3-2 in the second overtime session.,

In the first half, both teams played tough offense and defense. Both had opportunities to score with Chelan leading kicks on goal over Okanogan, but all the attempts were off the mark and the two teams ended the first half scoreless.

Two minutes into the second half Alejandro Angulo scored Chelan's first goal off an assist from Eleazar Galvan. Soon after scoring the first goal, Angulo had to leave the game after being knocked out when he went up for header and the players collided, hitting their heads together.

In the 25th and 36th minutes of the second half Okanogan scored two goals to take the lead.  Two minutes later, Galvan scored the tying goal off of a free kick just outside the 18 yard box.

In the last minute of the second five minute golden goal overtime, Chelan's Galvan found the back of the net again to win the game for Chelan clinching the CTL league title.

“We would like to commend Isaac Perez again for his play in goal,” wrote Assistant Coach Jim Broome. “He has continued to step up and fill this role as Ruben Medina continues to heal his hand.”

The coaches also recognized freshman Ivan Magdaleno for his intensity and aggressive play coming off the bench when Angulo hadto leave the game and Eleazar Galvan who we can always count on to make things happen.

Chelan's next game is on Tuesday, May 3, at 4 p.m. against the Cascade Kodiaks at Chelan Falls Park.
