By Richard Uhlhorn

The Chelan golf team has been busy over the past two weeks with Chelan hosting the Okanogan Bulldogs on Tuesday, April 19. The boys team came away with the win over Okanogan 354 to 378.

Cristian Krumbah took the medalist honors with an 80 followed closely by teammate Ian Cowell who stroked an 81. Okanoganís two top players came in with 84s on a sunny, but brisk day at the Chelan Municipal Golf Course.

Neither Chelan nor Okanogan field a girls team and Sam Cooper was the girls medalist with stroking out at 98 (50/48).

The Chelan boys will finish off the week in non-league action against Ephrata on Thursday.

The second half of league action begins next week when Chelan travels to Leavenworth to take on Cascade.

On April 15, the boys tied for second place at the Chewelah Tournament with Krumbah shooting a 79, Cowell an 81, Zach Burchett an 87, Derek Ahl a 90 and Justin Harter a 103.

On April 14, the boys scored a three stroke win over the Wenatchee JV, 358 to 361. Ian Cowell took medalist honors, leaving the field behind with his 5-stroke winning score of 82.

On the girls side, they finished up a nine-hole match with 229, beating Wenatcheeís JV by 20 strokes. Medalist honors went to Sam Cooper whose 44 was better than most of the nine hole scores posted by the boys. Samís sister Quinn finished with a 51 and Lexi Burchett had a 54.

On April 12, the team traveled to the Okanogan Valley Golf Club for a match against Omak. The weather was good and both the Chelan Boys and Girls teams came out with wins. The boys captured the win over the Pioneers by 13 strokes 356 to 369.

There were co-medalists at this match with Ian Cowell and Omakís Ryder Lewis both hitting 83s. The Chelan girls won by default because Omak didnít field a girls team.
