The Chelan Goat Soccer team continues to play well beating the Cashmere Bulldogs 3-2 on Saturday, April 16, on home turf. This was a hard fought match with Chelan’s Ray Galvan scoring the Goats first goal 7 minutes into the game.

Cashmere tied the game 1-all in the 30th minute off a penalty kick that drew goal keeper Rubin Medina off the net. Ten minutes later, Cashmere scored its second goal to take the lead 2-1, but a minute later in extra time of the first half, Chelan midfielder Edy Bahena tied the game back up 2-2 going into the halftime break.

In the second half both Cashmere and Chelan continued to play tough. Chelan sophomore Diego Avina came off the bench in the 65th minute and scored the winning goal for the Goats. “Diego did everything we asked of him at the left midfield position,” said Assistant Coach Jim Broome.

Goalie Ruben Medina played an incredible game protecting the goal. “He really stepped up to the challenge in one of his toughest games yet.”

Chelan’s JV squad also beat Cashmere on Saturday 6-1.
