The Chelan Goats became District Champions last Saturday night when they defeated Cashmere 55-48. The win sets the Goats up for an attempt at multiple championship when they enter the Bi-District tournament at Mead High School this coming Friday night, February 18, when they meet up with the winner of the Colville (13-10) – Okanogan (12-10) game.

Cashmere, as they always have over the years, gave Chelan a run for the money, jumping out to a 11-5 lead in the first quarter before Chelan found its offense and started working back into the game to take the lead at end of the first 16-14.

The Bulldogs continued to play Chelan well during the second period, matching the Goats point for point, rebound for rebound with the first half ending in a tie, 26-26.

By the end of the third quarter, Chelan was only up by three points, 41-38 and the game continued to be up for grabs throughout the fourth quarter of play also. Chelan finally pulled out a three point lead with 41 seconds remaining and did not allow Cashmere to score. The game ended with Chelan on top 55-48.

Michael Amsel Jr. had 20 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals with Aaron McQuaid adding 13 points, pulling down 9 rebounds and blocking Cashmere 5 times. Matt Robinson added 10 points to the Goats final.

If the Goats are able to capture the Bi-District Championship, they will have added to the two championships they already own this year; the CTL and District Championships.
