Chelan moves to playoffs, beating Riverside 51-14
Four nominated to State All League Playoffs

By Richard Uhlhorn

Everyone knows how the cross-over game went with Riverside. I don’t need to go into details of how Chelan dominated the game. Coach Darren Talley was a little surprised however. “I think they were a very good team,” said Talley. “We had to battle for all of our yards.” Talley went on to say that Riverside was the only team in its league to beat Coville.

This coming Friday night, November 11, at 7 p.m. in Cle Elum, Chelan will play its first round game against a very good football team. “We know them… and, they know us,” said Talley. “They have three great running backs and a great quarterback.”

Talley added that Chelan would have to be very balanced on Friday night, particularly on defense. “That’s the way it should be in the playoffs,” he said.

The team is excited and ready to take on the Warriors. With both teams having exceptional offenses, it is going to be a very hard hitting game.

Jerry Isenhart Jr,

Jose Aparicio,

Cole Schwartz. and

Matt Peterson

have been nominated for All State Honors

The above four seniors have been nominated to play in the All State game in the future. Coach Talley is very proud of their accomplishment this year. After the State Playoffs, the names go to the selection committee and a couple of names could be added.

Cole Schwartz and Matt Peterson were obvious selections for this honor, but it was a welcome honor to have both Isenhart and Aparicio selected as well. Both have made their impact known on the line all year long, and while , as linemen, they don’t get much recognition, they are the play makers open the holes for the running backs. “I think Jerry Jr. is probably the best lineman in the entire league,” said Talley. “He dominates the line.”

Coach Darren Talley has good reason to be proud of the Chelan Goats. Over the past four years, he and his able coaching assistants have led them into the playoffs. He says:

“Four years of high school football and four years of making it into the 1A state playoffs. Great job seniors, please continue on for as many games as possible.”
