Chelan hosted the Cashmere Bulldogs on Tuesday evening, January 11, in the newly remodeled
Community Gymnasium. Not only did the gym shine in its newness, the Goats shined
in their play beating the Bulldogs soundly 66-50.
Prior to the game, Coach Joe Harris commented on his team. “We are coming together
as a team and I’m confident that it will be a great year.”
Chelan jumped out to an immediate 19-9 lead in the first quarter and never let Cashmere
get closer than 6 points for the remainder of this game.
Michael Amsel Jr. had a game high 15 points along with 5 assists, 9 rebounds and 6 steals.
Aaron McQuaid added to his games with a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Aaron works very hard on the defensive end of the court, pulling down rebounds. “
He does a lot of little stuff during a game that helps us win,” said Coach Harris several weeks
ago during the Christmas Tournament.
Tyler James is also tough under the boards and had 11 rebounds and 12 points.
Evan Riester also scored 11. With four players scoring in double figures, it will be hard to beat Chelan.
On Tuesday night, they had a season low 10 turnovers and converted a season high 78 percent at the free throw line with 14 of 18 shots going in.
In the fouth quarter alone, the Goats pumped in 10 of 12 from the free throw line.
The Goats will travel to Okanogan on Friday, January 14, with game time beginning at 6 p.m. because of weather concerns.
