Misael Arechiga was back in perfect kicking form after recovering from an injury at the beginning of the football season. Against Tonasket, he had plenty of opportunities to kick the ball as Chelan rolled over Tonasket 64-0. He was perfect on 8 point after attempts and 6 of his 10 kickoffs

went into the end zone for touchbacks.

Chelan rolls over a young Tonasket football team

Chelan owned the field last Friday night as they rolled over a young, scrappy Tonasket Tiger team 64-0.

Chelanís kicker senior. Misael Arechiga was back for this game after pulling his hip flexor muscle during double practices at the beginning of the season. His skill and power could have been used at Cashmere. Against Tonasket, six out of his 10 kickoffs were for touchbacks, and he was perfect on all eight of his Point-After attempts. Coach Talley has turned his kickers over to Coach Skip Boyd for his expertise in the kicking game. Skip was recently honored at a University of Washington game for his past play as a kicker for the Huskies and his efforts to make Chelanís current crop of kickers better is appreciated by Coach Talley.

On the sidelines during the game, Coach Boyd said that Arechiga is a talented young man who should have a chance at a college scholarship for his kicking abilities.

It was a good night for Chelanís Homecoming and the teamís dominance over the Tonasket Tigers allowed all the players a chance for some time on the field.

Chelan, of course, came out in the first quarter of play and scored each of its 6 touchdowns on six possessions. Cole Schwartz scored first on Chelanís first possession with a 24 yard run into the end zone. Then Michael Amsel Jr. and Matt Robinson both recovered fumbles on the kickoffs. Amselís romped into the end zone from 48 yards out and Robinson recovered the ball in the end zone. Both of these fumbles were lateral backward throws to a running back.

Schwartz scored the fourth touchdown on a 22 yard run and then three minutes later, Tanner Hendricks caught a 27 yard pass from Amsel, who ran the sixth touchdown in with :56 seconds in the first from the 75 yards out.

Tonasket held the Goats scoreless throughout the second quarter of play until Konnar Stevens broke for a 40 yard run with only :57 seconds remaining.

In the third quarter, Amsel had a 58 yard run and Konnar Stevens scored on a 10 yard run.

Coach Darren Talley sidelined the varsity and played both second and third string players who got valuable experience in a real game against a young team they will be facing in future years. These young Goats held Tonasket scoreless for the rest of the game.

Chelan hosts Cascade on Friday, October 28 in its final league game of the year.
