Lady Goats finish incredible volleyball season as second best in the entire State 1A classification
by Richard Uhlhorn
"What an incredible season for the Lady Goats! Words cannot express how proud I am of their hard work and dedication this entire season," said Coach Donene Hendricks.
After Saturday's football game, Hendrick's said, "I wish we could have forced it to five games. King's big hitter was getting really tired and I think we could have beaten them."
Playing in a state championship game is something the players will remember the rest of their lives. "It might be the only time I ever have to watch my daughter in a championship match," said our on site photographer Tracy Williams. His daughter Cari played well during the tournament.
"Our journey to the championship state match has been something that , I know, none of us will ever forget," stated Hendricks. The Lady Goats played in several tournaments this season, including the South Whidbey Invite where they took second place against a 4A school. They then won the Caribou Trail League championship without one loss and went on to win the District VI championship.
Taking second place at the State Tournament is no small feat. It is huge. Only 16 teams even make it that far. "There are many teams in the state who would love to make it to the tournament.... teams and schools that have never made it that far," said Hendricks on Saturday. "Brewster is a good example."
"I can honestly say that it has been a privilege to have coached each one off these talented young ladies. Although they didn't quite reach their ultimate dream of being the state champions, they realize that second place is a huge accomplishment and something to be extremely proud of."

Chelan loses three seniors from the volleyball squad this year... Kelli Bowers, Krissa Gavin-Shively and Houston Robison. Next year's squad should be just as strong as this year's and these girls will have another shot at the State Championship.
Thanks from the sports staff at GoLakeChelan for giving us such an incredible season.
