The Lady Goats will be taking off for the WIAA State Volleyball Championships this week after decisively winning the District VI Championship this past weekend.
The Goats began their run to the championship by defeating the Brewster Bears in a three game match 25-13, 25-4, 25-20. This win put them into the championship match against the ever tough Cascade Kodiaks, but the Lady Goats prevailed and won the championship match in three games 25-19, 25-12, 26-24.
"The team had their highest serving percentage of the year at the District tournament," said Coach Donene Hendriks. "We missed only four serves throughout the entire tournament and it definitely played a huge role in helping with our success."
Chelan is ranked fifth in the state right now and will face the number three ranked Ann Wright on Thursday afternoon at the Yakima Sun Dome. "I'm not one hundred percent sure on the time right now," stated Hendricks, "but it looks as though we don't play until "
This year's tournament is on Thursday and Friday this coming week instead of Friday/Saturday as in the past.
