Lady Goats defeat Entiat... playing well
Coach Erik Peterson continues to report that the Lady Goat Soccer team is playing well despite several losses.
In the teams last game this past Thursday, October 22, the Goats defeated the Entiat Lady Tigers by a score of 5-1. "The Lady Goats played a consistent game of soccer creating several exciting runs on goals," said Coach Peterson.
It was the senior recognition evening and all three Chelan seniors were recognized with their parents. The seniors included Laurel Drinkwater, Kayla Diaz, and Margarita Mendoza. All three played an aggressive defensive game against the Entiat Tigers creating many offensive scoring opportunities from the backfield.
Sophomore Bianca Ramirez scored for Chelan on a brilliant bending corner kick, followed by freshman Heather Poppie scoring on three fast breaks. The last goal was knocked in by junior Erika Arrechiga. Coach Peterson also commented on some noteworthy offensive play by newcomer Daniella Kuri.
The Lady Goats JV squad played with much determination today in a 2-0 victory over Cascade.
Junior Yessica Ramirez scored early in the first half, followed minutes later by a tap-in by Freshman Corrin Easley. Great midfield hustle by Leah Clark, and some good saves by keeper Lupe Villasenor.
Chelan lost to Omak after 2 overtimes and a shootout. The score was 2-2 after regulation time. Freshman Heather Poppie scored both goals in the second half.
Chelan tied Bridgeport 1-1.
Yessica Ramirez scored early in the second half with a lightning shot from the 18 to tie the game. Great defensive hustle by Laurel Drinkwater, Sammi Cool and Suleyma Bravo.
