Chelan @ Omak 10-23

Chelan's quarterback uses a large hole created by the Goat line to score one of Chelan's two touchdowns against the Omak Pioneers.

Goats lose tough game to Omak 15-12

Editors note:

It is my understanding, without haven been at the Omak game, that Coach Talley, the team and Chelan's fans had every reason to be upset. I have heard from several individuals that some actions made by the referees at this game were downright questionable. The Omak win gives them 3rd place in the CTL and relegates Chelan to 5th place.

Chelan will play Cashmere this coming Thursday evening and the chance to win back the shoe.

Mad, Sad, and then Glad

A personal commentary by Coach Darren Talley

"In the game of football just like life, things don't always go the way you plan, or the way you like them to.  We felt that way after our loss to a very good Omak team Friday night.  My personal emotions have gone from mad (right after the game), to sad (Friday night through early Saturday morning), to glad (by Saturday afternoon's practice), to prepare for our next game on Thursday night.  During the mad part the fewer words spoken the better for all concerned.  In the sad part reflection on the could've, should've, and would've.  The parts that are in our control need deep thinking and analysis.  Then, the good part the love of the game comes back.  You pick yourself back, and get around those who can understand all these crazy emotions best - the awesome players and coaches that live, breath, and share everything together for this short, wonderful time.

Chelan held a tight lead in the game until Omak scored on a two yard run with 31 seconds left in the fourth quarter.  After the kick off return Chelan had 31 seconds left on the clock to try to score.  Chelan went out firing four passes down field with Omak in prevent defense, but to no avail as the game ended Chelan 12 - Omak 15.  Offensively Michael Amsel, Jr quarterbacked a great effort, running for a diving TD, and throwing to Matt Peterson for another TD in the first half.  In the second half Omak's defense really clamped down on Chelan's offense only allowing Chelan four rushing plays in the fourth quarter.

Chelan's defense held a great Omak offense down for three quarters, but Omak's last drive of the night which started with 8:51 left in the fourth quarter and ended with 31 seconds left on the clock proved to be the death nail.  Four times Omak was fourth and short and only made the first down by inches keeping their drive alive.  In a gallant effort just 31 seconds too long for our team by keeping our defense out on the field there is nothing to be ashamed of by those on the field or off.

While we wait for the remainder of the piece to the story of the Chelan - Omak 'heartbreaker'....

Tracy confirmed what 'Willy reported too....
It was a tough assignment for the photo team as the field had a lot of 'dark spots' that made capturing action shots a real challeng.
