It's that time of the year when the leaves turn color and the harriers from the Caribou Trail League cross country teams begin to compete for the chance to represent their schools at the upcoming State Cross Country Championships in early November. Lady Goat harriers win CTL league championship

The Lady Goat cross-country team did it again this past Thursday at the Caribou Trail League Championships at the Lake Chelan Municipal Golf Course. They won the championship for the third straight year in a row.

 

Leading all the girls to the finishline was Cashmere's Kea Paton with atime of 18:19 over the 2.7 mile course. Then it was Chelan with Lyndsey Fox leading Gabby Guillen to the finish line by one second for second place with a time of 18:54. Gabby had a time of 18:55 and Mari Schramm placed a solid fifth place in 18:58, just a mere four seconds behind the leaders. Clinching the championship for Chelan was Cody Knaub in 12th place and Breanna Holiday in 13th place with time sof 20:05 and 20:18 respectively. Sarah Waskewitz placed 16th overall and Solin Castro came in a distant 34th place.

 

Girls team scores:

1st Chelan 35, 2nd Cashmere 43, 3rd Omak 57, 4th Lake Roosevelt  113, 5th Cascade Tonasket 125, Tonasket Incomplete

 

The boys team had a solid effort and a second place finish to Cashmere's first place finish.

 

Finishing first for the boys was Niles Desmarais in fifth place with a time of 15:52 over the 2.7 mile course. He was followed to the line by Raven Berman in sixth place with a time of 16:03 and Cyrus Desmarais in eighth place in 16:07. Jorge Maldanado came in 17th in 16:47 followed by Aaron Schramm in 18th in 16:48. Josh Burbery was 29th with at time of 17:44 and Ian Wyatt was 32nd in 17:55

 

Boys team scores:

1st: Cashmere 40, 2nd Chelan 54, 3rd Tonasket 77, 4th Cascade 96,  5th Lake Roosevelt106,  6th Omak 141

 

The District VI meet is this coming Thursday, October 29, at Walla Walla State Park. The Varsity girls flight begins at 1 p.m. and the boys varsity runs at 1:40 p.m. with awards being handed out after the J.V. races at approximately 2:45 p.m.
