5-15-10 Chelan District Baseball
Senior 2nd baseman Will Ray played some great defense this year, turning some great double plays and always getting in front of the ball to keep it in the infield.
Chelan Goats ousted by Cascade… season over
By Richard Uhlhorn (as reported by Coach Jim Burbery)
The Chelan Goats has an impressive run on the baseball diamond this year, but at the end, the Cascade Kodiaks ended their season in the Goats second District Playoff game in Peshastin on Saturday, May 15.
In game one, the Goats faced the Brewster Bears and came up with a convincing win, 9-1. Josh Burbery went the distance for Chelan on the mound and Cyrus Desmarais hammered a home run in this game.
This win gave the Goats the right to move on to the next round and face the loser of the Cashmere/Cascade game for the #2 seed to the Regional tournament.
The Goats found themselves in a scoring hole and battled back in the seventh inning, putting the tying run on first base, but couldn’t bring that run across the plate. Cascade walked away with a 5-3 victory and finished Chelan’s season.
After a rough start, the Goats really came on strong in the later part of their season with some great pitching and in particular, some great hitting. They certainly played better ball than the Mariners have been playing.
The Chelan Goats ended the season in third place in the Caribou Trail League.
