Spring Sports up-date

Tennis:

Chelan's Lady Goat Tennis Team had a landmark victory over the Cascade Kodiak Girls team. "Cascade is the defending CTL and District Champions," said Coach Rothlisberger. This match was a makeup match from the April 26 rain out and took place on Wednesday afternoon, April 28.

 

Girls:  Chelan 4, Cascade 1

With this win over Cascade, the Chelan girls move to 10-0 in league and 12-0 overall on the season so far.

 

#1 Singles:  Leah Newell (Casc) def Houston Robison 6-2, 6-0. "Leah finished 5th in state last year," said Coach Rothlisberger.

 

#2 Singles:  Rachelle Anderson (Ch) def Tori Smith 6-4, 6-1.

 

#3 Singles:  Maghara DePaoli (Ch) def Noelle Parton 6-3, 6-2.

 

#1 Doubles:  Rae Schwartz-Karly Sheehan (Ch) def Kelcey Loreth-Emily Vincent 6-4, 6-1 "Rae and Karly were down 3-0 in the first set before winning 12 of the last 14 games," said Rothlisberger.

 

#2 Doubles:  Livi Plew-Emma Palumbo (Ch) def Lily Dittrich-Nikki Evans 6-1, 6-2.

CHS @ Brewster, Wednesday, April 28.

 

Chelan's Lady Goat Softball team traveled to Brewster on Wednesday and dropped the opener of this double header 5-2. The Lady Goats then came back in the nightcap and demolished the Bears 17 to 5.

 

"Standouts offensively were Freshman Courtney Dietrich (5-6, 2B, 3B, SB, 6 RBI), senior Amanda Ihlanfeldt (4-6, 2B, 2 RBI), and junior Lynsdey Fox (2-5, 2B, RBI, 4 BB)," said Coach Anne Becker.

Baseball:

Chelan vs. Tonasket, Tuesday, April 27.

 

"We celebrated Senior Night in Chelan on Tuesday and despite a brief downpour in the first inning, the sun broke out and we had a really nice evening of baseball," reported Coach Jim Burbery.

 

"Our nine seniors really stepped up and gave the fans a great show in this game."

 

This year's seniors are Josh Burbery, Kyle Nelson, Will Ray, Alex Brown, Adam Hendricks, Jesse Quigley, Niles Desmarais, Cyrus Desmarais, and Brooks Gatzemeier. "Thanks to all of these kids for allowing me to coach them for so long and thanks to all of their parents for their great support," said Burbery.

 

In the game 1, Chelan sent Alex Brown to the mound and he had a great day, pitching a no hit/ no run game. Alex gave up only three walks and struck out 13 in a 21-0 victory for the Goats.

 

The Goats also had a good day at the plate, getting their 21 runs on 13 hits.

 

Jesse Quigley was 3-4 with 6RBI's, Evan Reister was 3-4 w/5 RBI's, Josh Burbery 2-4, Alex Brown 2-4, Cyrus Desmarias 2-4, Gabe Quigley 1-3.

 

Chelan did a great job of running the bases and forcing Tonasket to make mistakes.

 

In the  game 2, Josh Burbery took the mound and got the 13-0 shutout win. "Josh had a good game allowing only 2 hits and striking out 10, and giving up no walks.  This was another great outing for the Goat's pitchers.," stated Brubery.

 

Chelan had a good game at the plate in the nightcap also.

 

Niles Desmarias was 4-4 w/5 RBI's, Josh Burbery 2-4, Jesse Quigley 1-1 with an HR and driving in 2 more RBI's making his total on the day 8 RBI's, Kyle Nelson 1-3, Alex Brown 1-3, Cyrus Desmarias  1-3, Will Ray 1-3, Brooks Gatzemeier 1-2.

 

The Goats will be travelling to Okanogan on Saturday, May1, for a double header.

 

Soccer:

Chelan Boys Soccer played the Cashmere Bulldogs on Saturday April 24th in Chelan Falls. 

 

In a windy hard fought game Cashmere ended up with a 3-1 win. 

 

Cashmere scored 3 goals in the first half. 

 

Eleazar Galvan scored Chelan's only goal off an assist from Sam Torres in the 38th minute.

 

 "In the second half, Chelan had numerous chances to score but could not put the ball in the back of the net," said Assistant Coach Jim Broome.

 

Golf:

 

On Tuesday, April 27, Kelli Bowers was in a playoff hole for first place after shooting a 76 at Suncadia. Lexi Burchett shot a 104. "This was a great day for both of them," said Coach Kirk Einsphar.

 

On April 22, the Chelan Golf Team traveled to Okanogan for a match against Okanogan and Omak,  Below are the results of that match. Omak defeated Chelan with a score of 360 to Chelan's 371 stroke total.

 

Kelli Bowers shot a 39 on the nine  hole course and Lexi Burchett stroked a 55 for the day.
