Chelan girls tennis defeat Omak

As reported by Coach Marty Rothlisberger

Austin Habich had a great day of tennis against Omak’s Chandler Lewis, beating him 7-5, 6-1. “Austin was down 4-1 in the first set, but turned it on and won 12 of the final 14 games,” wrote Coach Rothlisberger.

Habich was the only boy to win on Saturday, April 17. Mat Engstrom once again failed to beat Tylr Hendrick, losing his match 6-1, 6-1. Omak’s Kyle Allen defeated Josiah Hunter 7-5, 6-0 in another tough tennis match.

The girls team faired much better against Omak defeating them 4-1 as team. Houston Robison led the way with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Rachel Riggle. Rachelle Anderson continues her winning ways. She defeated Kayci Fudge 6-4, 6-3. “Rachelle is 7-0 this year playing a mix of #1 singles, #2 singles and #1 doubles,” Rothlisberger states.

In the #3 singles spot, Emma Palumbo defeated Andres Reyes 6-1, 6-0.

The doubles team of Mckenna Hawkins-Mari Nunez came up with a 6-0, 6-4 win over the Omak doubles team of Jaime Dienst-Christy Gray. The doubles team of Rae Schwartz and Karly Sheehan lost their match.

Chelan’s JV team is playing very, very well on the courts this year. They beat both Omak on Saturday and Cashmere on Thursday, April 15.
