Chelan Goats win double header off Omak

The Chelan Goat Baseball Team hosted the Omak Pioneers for a double header on Saturday, April 17, and came away with wins in both the opener and nightcap.
In game one, Chelan won 12-2 in five innings. “The team came out fired up and didn’t let down all day,” said Coach Jim Burbery. The got their 12 runs on 11 hits and committed only three errors.
Josh Burbery pitched the first game, giving up four hits, one walk and one earned run, but struck out seven.
“Offensively, we hit very well,” stated Burbery.
Josh Burbery was 3-4, Gabe Quigley 2-3, Kyle Nelson 1-4, Jesse Quigley 1-2, Evan Reister 1-3, Alex Brown 1-2, Niles Desmarias 1-2, and Brooks Gatzemeier 1-3.
In the night cap, Alex Brown started on the mound and went the distance throwing a great game, giving up four hits and no earned runs, no walks while striking out five at the plate.
Chelan committed only two errors in this five inning gem.
“All coaches know that if you put a new player in that the ball will find him and it did in this game,” said Burbery. Will Ray, who got the start at 2nd base in the nightcap, had the first two balls of the game hit to him and fielded three others before it was over. “He did a great job fielding and throwing out all but one runner… even throwing one out from his knees.”
Offensively the Goats bats didn't cool off a bit scoring 12 runs on 13 hits.
Leading the way for the Goats in this one at the plate was Jesse Quigley who was 3-4 with 5RBI's, hitting a double, a triple, and a walk off 3-run homerun in the bottom of the 5th inning to put the goats up by ten! “Great game Jesse. It's not to often that a cycle is missed by not getting a single.
Gabe Quigley was 2-3 handing the Quigley brothers a great day at the plate. Kyle Nelson was 2-4, Josh Burbery was 1-4, Evan Reister was 1-3 with 1 RBI, Alex Brown was 1-2, Niles Desmarias was 1-3 with 3 RBI's, Will Ray was 1-3, Cyrus Desmarias was 1-1and Brooks Gatzemeier was 0-2 but drove in 3 RBI's.
The Chelan boys only struck out once all day long.
Next the Goats will be hosting Brewster on Saturday, April 24, game time is for a double header.
