Goat track team finishes 6th and 7th at Rieke Invitational

Chelan Goats Track and Field Team competed at the Rieke Invitational last Friday, April 16. The boys and girls teams finished 6th and 7th respectively out of a field of twelve teams.
On the boys side Matt Peterson finished third in the 200m with a time of 23.70. Robin Weathersby finished 8th in the 400 with a time of 54.90. The boys 4x100m relay finished third with Weathersby, Michael Amsel Jr., Aaron McQuaid and Peterson in a time of 45.30. They are now ranked 5th in the State 1A rankings. They also finished fifth in the 4x400 in a time of 3:44.30.
Matt Pittsinger took 7th in the shotput with a throw of 41-01.00, 8th in the discus with a throw of 117-04 and 7th in the javelin with a throw of 142-10.
Hank Burton took 4th in the pole vault with a vault of 11’6”. Amsel took second in the long jump with a distance of 19’9”. Both of these jumps put Burton and Amsel in the top ten competitors in the State 1A ranks.
On the girls side, Darcy Austin took third in the 100m in 12.90 putting her in the top ten for 1A in the state. Mari Shramm took 8th in the 400m in a time of 1:06.10. Gabby Guillen took 4th in the 800m in a time of 2:36.80. Mirella Carrion took 7th in the 3200m in a time of 13:00.40.
The girls 4x100 relay with Cody Knaub, Maddie Knaub, Kyra Wyant and Darcy Austin took 5th in a time of 53.30. The same girls took 6th in the 4x200m relay in a time of 1:56.00 The 4x400m relay with Shramm, M.Knaub, C. Knaub and Austin took 5th in a time of 4:32.50.
Sarah Waszkewitz took 6th in the shot put with a throw of 28’9” and first in the javelin with a throw of 115’3”, Waszkewitz is currently ranked first in the state for 1A.
This week the team will compete at a triple-dual meet in Cascade on Tuesday, April 20 and at the Quincy Invitational on Saturday, April 24.
