Kelsey Harding makes a great hit
Coach Bridgewater reports…
The Lady Trojan Volleyball team’s season came to end over the weekend at
district play in Kittitas. The Trojans faced Kittitas in their first match of the day. It was a hard fought battle with Kittitas coming out on top. Scores of the games were, 24-26, 18-25, 25-20, 22-25. Leading the way for the Trojans against Kittitas was Abby Bridgewater. Abby served 15/17 with 4 aces and had 13 kills, 4 assists and 3 blocks. Verna LaCourse added 10 kills and 4 blocks and Whitni England had 30 assists. We had a hard time finishing any game on Saturday. We were right there battling for every point. Nothing came easy for us. It seemed that we didn't get any breaks all day long.
After dropping that match the Trojans faced a tough Bridgeport team that had beat Waterville earlier. The Bridgeport match also went four games, the game scores were 9-25, 20-25, 25-22 and 16- 25. I can't say enough about the defense that the Bridgeport Fillies played against us. Their Libero picked up everything we tried. They are not an over powering team at all but they play incredible defense and let you make the mistakes. Kelsey Harding hit the ball as hard as I have seen from her but they picked most of it up.
I am so proud of how hard these girls played this season. After losing 9 seniors after last year's successful team and getting a new coach, this year's team was expected to finish in the middle of the pack. However these girls were not about to accept that and worked so hard to prove the skeptics wrong. Ending up second in league and having a real chance to make state was exciting for the team. It has been a privilege to come to a new community and be accepted by everyone. The support of the school district staff and the entire community is something all should be proud of.

As Manson's Fall Sports Season Comes To A Close
By Nancy Miller
Fall sports for many Manson athletes has now come to a close for this season after the outcomes of contests this past week-end. Student-athletes will now refocus on their other activities along with taking a well deserved rest from grueling practice schedules.
The GoLakeChelan staff extends a hearty thanks and acknowledgment of the hard work and dedication required to meet the commitments of those participating in today's Team Sports."
And we're reminded that in keeping our eye only on the scoreboard, we often miss the story behind the game. Toning strong bodies, perfecting skill, overcoming pain, emotional turmoil, tolerance, control, camaraderie, creating memories, building teams and communities, is what it's all about.
It would seem that when we focus only on the artificial process of winning and losing , we too often fail to gauge the awesome growth, development and rewards of persistence, hard work and dedication.
We applaud the student athletes!

Coach Bridgewater reports...
The Lady Trojan volleyball team traveled to Kittitas on Tuesday evening, Nov. 4 for the first round of district play. The Trojans defeated Waterville in 4 very hard fought games. Scores of the games were, 25-23, 25-16, 20-25 and 27-25.
Verna Lacourse was 21/22 from the service line with 4 aces. She had 12 kills, 1 block and 13 digs. Monica Sanchez was a tough server for the Trojans. She was 17/18 with 4 ace serves winning 10 points off her serve. She was able to keep the Waterville girls off balance.
As a team, we were a little off our game. I am proud of how the girls kept battling, never letting their heads drag. This team has fought hard all season. We will travel back to Kittitas on Saturday to take on the Kittitas girls. We split with them in the season. This will be a great match for both teams. If we win we will be district champs and off to state. If we lose we will have to play one more match against the winner of the Bridgeport, Waterville match.
