Chelan Goats to play Freeman today in loser out game

Chelan's baseball season has come down to a must win game against Freeman at Recreational Field in Wenatchee at If Chelan wins this game, they will move on to Regional play next Saturday, May 23. Okanogan is also facing a loser-out situation and will play Lakeside (9 Mile Falls) after Chelan's game
On Saturday, May 16, the team played Omak in a District game in Wenatchee and came out losing game one to the Pioneers 4-2. Chelan came back at and played the Okanogan Bulldogs and posted a 4-3 win with a winning run scoring in the bottom of the seventh inning.
In game one against Omak, Josh Burbery was pitched a no-hitter through the fifth inning. He ended up giving up five hits with the defense making a couple of miscues in the field which allowed Omak to score four runs in the top of the sixth inning. Josh finished the game with seven strikeouts and no walks.
Offensively, the team had trouble getting the bats going, managing only four hits. Greg Schultz was 13; Josh Burbery was 1-2, Evan Reister was 1-2 and Cyrus Desmaias was 1-2.
The loss had Chelan playing Okanogan at with Cyrus Desmarias on the mound. Cyrus struck out five, gave up five hits and only walked one. The Goats played well defensively and committed only one error.
Offensively the bats were still quiet and Chelan came up with only four hits. Wesley Field was 1-2, Josh Burbery 1-2, Alex Brown 1-2, Curtis Pusey 1-1.
In the bottom of the seventh inning the game was tied up at 3-All. With two outs, Niles and Cyrus Desmarais both had great at-bats and were walked. Wesley Field loaded the bases when he hit a single past the shortstop. The winning run came with Kyle Nelson at the plate when a wild pitch went to the back stop allowing Adam Hendricks, pinch running for Cyrus, to steal home. "This was an exciting finish to a great game," reported Jill Burbery.
On Saturday, May 9, Chelan hosted LakeRoosevelt for the last regular season league double header, and senior day. The Goats needed to win to secure a play off spot, and they did, winning the opener ended up 14 -1.
Josh Burbery started on the mound and gave up only 1 run on 3 hits, striking out 12 and walking none. Josh end up 5 and 2 for the regular season, 7 and 2 over all.
All the seniors got the start today and had a good day.
Jeff Wethersby, who has been playing JV ball had a great day at the plate batting 4 for 4, with 4 RBI's and scoring twice. Greg Schultz 2-4, with a HR, and 3 RBI's and scored twice, Curtis Pusey 2-3 with 1 RBI, & scored once. Wes Field 1-3, w/1 RBI, and scored once, Evan Hendricks scored once.
Other players offensively: Kyle Nelson 2-4, 2 RBI's, scored twice, Josh Burbery 1-3, 1 RBI and score once, Alex Brown 1-3, Scored twice, Cyrus Desmarias 1-3 w/2 RBI's and scored once.
In the second game, the Goats did equally as well, with a final score of 12 -1. Cyrus Desmarias took the mound in game two and had a good day, giving up 1 run on 2 hits, striking out 10, and giving up no walks. The Goats committed 3 errors in this game.
Offensively, Jesse Quigley was 2-3,w/1 RBI scoring twice, Wes Field 1-1, Curtis Pusey 2-2, w/3 RBI's, Josh Burbery 2-2 w/2 RBI's, Adam Hendricks 2-3 w/1 RBI, Niles Desmarias1-2, w/1 RBI, Cyrus Desmarias 1-2 w/1RBI.
The regular season ended with a 3 way tie for 2nd place in the CTL and the Goats end up taking the tie breaker by being the only team in the Caribou Trail to beat the number 1 team Cashmere. Therefore Chelan is 2nd in the CTL.
