Chelan competes in two track meets this past week

Chelan hosted a track and field meet at home on Tuesday, April 21 and then traveled to the Quincy Invitational to compete against 20 other teams. At Chelan's meet, the girls team finished in first place and the boys finished in second place against teams from Omak, Lake Roosevelt and Tonasket.
On Saturday in Quincy the girls team finished in second place and the boys were down the ramp in 10th place.
Sarah Waszkewitz just gets better and better at the javeling and finished first with a throw of 129í09". This gave her the No. 1 ranking for 1A girls in this event in the State. In the pole vault, Darby Jenkins took 5th place.
Sydney Austin finished 5th in the 100 in 13.45 and 3rd in the 400 m.
In the longer runs, Mari Shramm finished 2nd in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:33.24 and Gabby Guillen took 3rd in the 1600 meters. Mirella Carrion placed 5th in the 3200 meters.
The girls continue to be strong in the relays. with a fourth place finish in the 4x100 relay with Jaicee Harri.s, Cody Knaub, Maddie Knaub and Kyra Wyant.
The 4x200 relay team finished 2nd with Cody Knaub, Darcy Austin, Jaicee Harris and Darby Jenkins and the 4x400 relay finished 3rd with Maddy Knaub, Mari Schramm, Darby Jenkins and Jaicee Harris.
Chelanís Chase Anderson took first in the 800 meter run
The 4x100 relay team with Matt Peterson, Cole Schwartz, Robin Weathersby and Cole Soreano finished in 6th place.
The 4x400 relay team placed 4th with Anderson, Weathersby, Schwartz and Peterson.
Matt Pittsinger took 6th in the javelin. Cole Soreano took 6th in the high jump and Hank Burton took 6th in the pole vault.
The Chelan boys and girls track and field team will be in Bridgeport this Friday.
