The rains came over Stormy Mountain and through Navarre Coulee earlier than predicted making Last Monday's golf match with Eastmont, Brewster/Pateros and Omak a little wet and chilly, but the Chelan Golf Team sucked up the weather and stroked team wins for both the boys and girls.
On the girls side, it was Kelli Bowers taking medalist honors with a 4 over 76 for the eighteen holes which included an eagle 3 on Hole No. 14.
The girls won team honors with a 424, just besting the challenge from Eastmont who stroked a 427, only three strokes away.
For the boys, Chelan took team honors with a 359, followed by Omak with a 396 and Brewster/Pateros with a 419.
Chelan’s Dan Campbell and Brewster’s Wade Gebbers, both shot an 8-over 80 on the rain-soaked course to share medalist honors. These two players have been challenging each other every time they meet up on a course.
Special honors were paid to the seniors on the Chelan team prior to the start of the match by Scott Raab, Chelan HS Athletic Director, as this was the final home match for them.
Chelan finishes up the regular season next Tuesday with a match in Leavenworth. The state qualifying match for our district will take place on May 19th at the Banks Lake golf course, with the top 10 boys and top 3 girls qualifying for the State Match competition, to be held during the week after Memorial Day in Richland at Columbia Pointe.
