The first two quarters against the Lady Bears were almost a wash as the two teams entered the break with Chelan only up by two points, 16-14.
It was the third quarter where Chelan began using a full court press which eventually forced 38 turnovers by the Bears, allowing the Lady Goats to outscore the Bears 20-11 in the third and keep the scoring even in the fourth as both teams scored 12-each.
The Bears actually out performed the Goats in scoring percentage throughout the game, but the Goats out shot them to score the most points.
“We are getting better, but still have a ways to go,” said Coach Tom Robinson after the game. He was pleased with the entire team’s effort. “It seems that someone new always shows up,” he said. In this case it was Sydney Austin who came up big with 12 points, four rebounds, two assists and three steals.
Austin was followed by Darby Jenkins and Kelli Bowers who both had nine points each. Jaicee Harris was steady with six points and six rebounds and was the only player to foul out of the game. Jamie Brunner also scored six points.
On the JV side, the Lady Goats held Brewster to only 17 points, shutting them down in the second and third quarters of play, allowing only two points. “We gave them 12 points in the fourth,” said Coach Tanya Greenfield. Danielle Smythe had eight points followed by Sara Waszkewitz and Clancy Courtney with seven each. Cari Williams and Darcy Austin both score six each.
