Chelan girls continue to win league games

It wasnít until the third quarter of play that Chelanís Lady Goats nailed the Okanogan Lady Bulldogs with a blistering defense and offense which yielded a 19-4 run and put the Goats in the lead for good.
The first quarter of play had the Bulldogs outscoring the Goats 8-2 and then 14-6 in the second quarter to enjoy a small two point lead going into the locker room at halftime.
Chelanís Kelli Bowers closed out the final moments of the third quarter with a three point shot from the side and then opened the fourth quarter with another three point shot from the other side giving Chelan a deciding edge 33-20.
In the fourth quarter, Okanogan tried to get back into the game, but fell short as both teams went head to head and scored nine points each.
Kelli Bowers scored a game high 21 points. Nine of those points were from beyond the three point line in the second half of play. She was followed in the scoring box by Jaicee Harris who had nine points and Houston Robison who came up with five points.
Chelan was able to steal the ball 18 times to Okanoganís six times and to force Okanogan into 24 turnovers while giving up only 15 of their own.
Chelan's JV squad also had a great outing against the Okanogan JV squad, defeating them 45-8. The JV girls allowed Okanogan only two points in the first quarter of play and then held them scoreless in both the second and third quarters. Olivia Plew was high scorer with 12 followed closely by Cari Willams who pumped in 10 points.Lindsey Fox added eight points to the scoreboard. "We played excellent defense for the first league game back from the break," said Coach Tanya Greenfield.
The Lady Goats will host the Brewster Bears this coming Tuesday night, beginning at in the Chelan gymnasium.
