Chelan batters Lake Roosevelt 55-15

Chelan’s offense exploded all night long against the Lake Roosevelt Raiders and came away with a satisfying 55-15 victory. “Lake Roosevelt will probably be the largest line of scrimmage we will face in our league this year,” stated Coach Darren Talley. “Our boys up fron worked their tails off to open up great holes. You know your line of scrimmage is winning the battle when all the starting backs are averaging over 10 yards a carry.’

Chelan used its running backs effectively on Friday with Derrick Talley piling up 158 yards and three touchdowns. Chelan’s second outside running back, Greg Schultz scored on one 2-point conversion and caught an incredible 35-yard diving pass in the end zone for a touchdown. The Goat Fullback, Cole Soreano scored on a 5-yard run. Joe Harris, Matt Pittsinger and Alby Paz all put touchdowns on the scoreboard.

The JV squad saw a lot of action in the third and fourth quarters of this game. “Seeing our younger running backs of Matt Pittsinger and Alby Paz each score a touchdown was awesome,” said Talley. It was one of those great nights when everyone on our team got to share in the fun.

Defensively, Chelan was tough. “Great efforts were made again by our line,” said Talley. Doug Ramsey, Gary Morgan, Colter Courtney, Quin Courtney, Ryan Sargent, and Will Nielsen all battled the huge Raider offensive line.

Our linebackers on the inside…Davey Anderson, Sean Gervais, Matt Pittsinger, Alby Paz, and outside Gage Schmidt, Reece McClelland, Rhett Beauregard, Jaime Guerrero, Adam Hendricks were stellar with a ton of tackles on the night.

Coach Talley is also happy with his special teams. “Two people have to be mentioned on kickoffs this week…Jaime Guerrero and Matt Pittsinger for their aggressive down field tackling.”
