Chelan came up with a balanced attack against the Cascade Kodiaks on Wednesday evening in Leavenworth to take home a 67-50 win.
The first half was a pretty evenly matched game with both teams shooting well and staying in the game. It was in the third quarter of play that Chelan took control and outscored the Kodiaks 15-9 to take the lead and never give it up.
Joe Harris was once again the leading scorer in the game with 22 points, but three other members of the team were in double figures to help the Goats win this game.

Mat Engstrom had a great night with 13 points and nine rebounds, eight of them on the defensive side of the court. Both Julio Juarez and Aaron McQuaid came up with 10 points each. McQuaid was also tough under the basket, pulling down a total of five rebounds to spark the Goats offense.
All in all, the Goats had 15 steals and forced Cascade to turn the ball over 24 times in this league match-up.
The Goats host the Lake Roosevelt Raiders this coming Saturday night in the Community Gymnasium with girls varsity action beginning at 6 p.m. and the boys around 8 p.m. This is the annual “Turn Back The Clock” affair that is so much fun to watch in a great setting.
Earlier in the week, the Chelan Goats traveled to Yakima to play in a basketball tournament in the Sundome. They were up against Vashon, the number one ranked team in the state for 1A classifications.
According to Tracy Williams, the Goats were only behind one point going into the fourth quarter, but Joe Harris had four fouls and was on the bench for several minutes. “That kinda did it for us,” said Williams.
Harris also scored 26 of the 39 points Chelan scored in this game. Rumor has it that a number of college coaches were on hand to watch this tournament.
