Former Chelan basketball star and Utah standout, Phil Cullen, held a basketball camp at Chelan High School on Saturday November 8.
Chelan Boys Basketball Coach Joe Harris reports that 42 young campers from grades 2 to 9 were on hand to learn from Phil. “The camp provided lots of individual instruction and skill development with some fun and lots of energy mixed in,” stated Harris in his email to GoLakeChelan.
If you weren’t around for the 1998 basketball season, Phil Cullen helped lead the Goats to the WIAA 1A State Basketball Championship that year. He was then recruited by the University of Utah where he played for Coach Rick Majerus for four years.
Cullen was also followed in his father’s footsteps as a baseball pitcher and was good enough to be signed by the Seattle Mariner organization where he played Single A ball with the Minnesota Timber Wolves for several years before giving up professional sports.
The kids attending the camp had lots of fun while learning from one of Chelan’s true sports heros.
