Thirty three learn volleyball basics
By Richard Uhlhorn
After four days of learning the basics of volleyball from Chelan High School Coach Donene Hendricks, her assistant coach Connie Poirier and a few of the high school volleyball players, 33 young campers were rewarded for their hard work on Thursday afternoon.
This camp, which helps develop Chelan’s Volleyball program, has been taking place since 1993. The participants have an opportunity to learn and develop the fundamentals of good volleyball and teamwork.
Before the camp is over each year, the campers are placed on teams and the coaches run a mini-volleyball tournament. This year’s group included the U-12 group that qualified for the Nationals in Houston next week.
Parent, and High School Girls Basketball Coach, Tom Robinson said, “We’ve raised $15,000 which will cover the girls going to the Nationals.”
Hendricks was pleased with this year’s turnout and the girls seemed pleased with the experience.
