Chelan track team does well at Cashmere Invitational Reported by Coach Greg Griffiths
On Saturday, April 12, the Chelan boys and girls traveled to Cashmere to compete in the 18-team Cashmere Invitational.

Chelan had a strong showing in the sprints with Luke Laughlin (5th) and Sam Sydloski-Tesch (6th) in the 100 meter dash while Katelyn Peer and Jaicee Harris finished in the top ten for the girls. Peer also place 7th in the 200 meter dash. Sydney Austin established herself amongst the State leaders by placing 2nd in the 400 meter dash with a time of 1:01.78.
Chelans Relay teams posted excellent times as well. The boys 4 X 100 relay (Laughlin, Sydloski-Tesch, Brett Linehan, Derrick Talley) placed 3rd while the 4 X 400 relay (Laughlin, Linehan, Sydloski-Tesch, and Tido Nunez) finished in 6th place. The girls 4 X 200 and 4 X 400 relays, with Jaicee Harris, Katelyn Peer, Darby Jenkins, and Syd Austin, placed 2nd in both relays and posted times (1:51.2 and 4:19.4) that have them ranked in the top 5 in the State.
Gaby Guillen placed 7th in the 1500 meter run and 4th in the 3000 meter. Alex Peer established a personal best time of in the 800 meter run and placed 8th.
In the field events, long jumpers Syd Austin (7th place 146) and Sam Sydloski-Tesch (4th place, 193) placed in the top ten. Darby Jenkins placed 4th (80) in the pole vault, Hank Burton and Leo Sanchez were 8th and 9th respectively in the pole vault (10 and 96). Freshmen Matt Pittsinger and Jaicee Harris also had good days in the Javelin. Matt placed 7th out of 26 throwers with a toss of 1276 while Jaicee finished in 6th with a throw of 989.
The next track meet for the Goats will be Friday, April 18 at Peshastin for the for the Reike Invitational hosted by CascadeHigh School
