Lewman resigns his girls’ coaching position
By Richard Uhlhorn
Dane Lewman, who completed his third year as the Chelan Lady Goats head basketball coach has tendered his resignation from that coaching position. “I would like all of the girls to know that I have truly enjoyed all of the time I have spent with them,” wrote Lewman in an email to GoLakeChelan. “They are great girls and have grown as players and a team. I hope the best for all of them in their future endeavors.”
Lewman gave no specific reason for the resignation. Unconfirmed speculation is that the resignation came from parent pressure.
Lake Chelan School superintendent Jim Busey stated that the job has already been posted on the school’s website. “We received three applications already,” said Busey.
With respect to Lewman’s resignation, Busey stated he hadn’t talked personally with Lewman about the resignation. Athletic Director Scott Raab declined comment.
This will be the fifth time in the last 14 years that the girls basketball program is looking for a new coach. One former player, home on spring break, wondered out loud if any high school basketball player at the school would ever have the same coach throughout their high school career.
Former Lady Goat coaches in the last 14 years other than Lewman include Steve Stamps, Mike Haerling and Jeff Eller.
