Chelan Goats move on to Christmas tourney final
Dump Eatonville 75-43
By Richard Uhlhorn
Cameron Reister and Joe Harris got Chelan off to a quick lead in Friday night’s game against Eatonville with Harris hitting two field goals and Reister dumping in several treys from the outside. Eatonville was never able to recover from this initial Chelan scoring spree that had Chelan in the lead 24-4 at the end of the first quarter of play.
At the buzzer ending the first half, Harris hit a trey to take the Goats out to a 47-15 lead.
This was a game where the Eatonville Cruisers were just outclassed on all fronts. It was a game where Coach Joe Harris was able to give the entire bench some valuable experience. By the end of the third quarter, most of the starting five were sitting while the bench took up the game and Chelan was out front 65-21.
The fourth quarter had Eatonville battling back against Chelan’s bench, outscoring Chelan 22-10, but it wasn’t nearly enough to get back into this one as Chelan walked away with a 75-43 victory.
Joe Harris led the Goats with 27 points and seven assists. Cam Reister was deadly from the three point line and scored a total of 17 points. “He’s been really disappointed is his shooting up to this tournament,” said his mother Linda. On the road prior to this tournament, Reister has struggled with his shot.
Zane Sandum had five rebounds and five points on the night while Derrick Talley pumped in seven points and had four assists.
Chelan will play in the championship round at this evening.
