Eddie Bush continuing wrestling career

By Richard Uhlhorn

Since graduating from Chelan High School in 2006, Eddie Bush has been attending Yakima Valley Community College where he has broken a number of the schoolís wrestling records.

Last weekend, Bush was headed for the Region 18 wrestling championships at Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, Oregon with eight other members of his team. This is the second year Bush has qualified for the Regionals. GoLakeChelan does not have the results of that tournament with the exception that Eddie wasnít in the top four wrestlers.

Eddie has had an incredible season this year for Yakima Valley Community College (YAKS), having tied or broken four longstanding school records.

Eddie surpassed his co-coach Mike Schmittís 1992 and J.D. Taylorís 1994 near fall marks and their single season reversal records. He also equaled the career riding time records of Sam Ortega (1995), Matt Ballard (1998), Chris Navarro (2000) and Ricky Valadez (2007).

Eddie will be transferring to the University of Great Falls (Montana) on a scholarship this coming fall. His dream is to complete college and coach wrestling.

Eddie came out of high school with a second place finish at the 2006 Mat Classic in the 130 pound classification and is continuing to do well at college. It is a great reflection on his old Coach Randy Gleasman and the direction that the Chelan wrestling program is headed.
