Lady Goats continue to dominate league play

The Lady Goats finally got to play in front of a home town crowd on Thursday evening and put away the Brewster Bears in three games, 25-15, 25-14, 25-12. “I thought our team played with a lot of intensity,” reported Coach Donene Hendricks. “We minimized our unforced errors.”

The team has a lot of depth and that is a good thing. Chelan has had some injuries to contend with. Katie McQuaid was sitting on the bench with an ankle injury and in the third and final game of this match, Alisha Love went down with an ankle sprain. “Having these players be versatile in their postions has been so beneficial, especially when our lineups have changed.”

Darby Jenkins put down 7 kills and had 2 blocks. Jaicee Harris had 5 kills and 4 blocks. The big gun of the night was Izzy Barth with 13 kills, 14 assists and 15/15 serving with one ace. Kelli Bowers led the team with assists with 19, had 1 kil and served 14/16 on the night. Jamie Brunner had 6 kills and 8 digs. Sydney Austin had 4 kills and 9 digs. Amanda VanDiest was 18/18 on serve receive and also dug out 6 balls. Before her game ending injury in the third and final game, Alisha Love served 8/10 and had 3 kills.

On Tuesday evening, the Lady Goats played Omak, finally beating them in five games, 25-12, 18-25, 25-17, 23-25, 15-11. “Omak played a solid match against us. As expected they have improved a lot,” said Hendricks. The Lady Goats handily beat Omak at home in three games several weeks ago. “I was very pleased at how our girls were able to maintain their composure and win the match. We made some important plays when we needed to.”

Sydney Austin led the team with 9 kills and had 8 digs and 14/14 at the service line. Izzy Barth put down 8 kills, served 14/15 with 5 aces and combined for 17 assists. Jamie Brunner and Katie McQuaid both had 6 kills. Jamie also served well with 19/21 and 9 aces. Jaicee Harris had 5 kills, 2 blocks and Alisha Love had 4 kills, 2 blocks and served 17/18 with 2 aces. Amanda VanDiest had 8 digs and received 25/28. Kelli Bowers led in assists with 19.

The team now has a league record of 9-0 and will be on the road again this coming week, traveling to Okanogan and Lake Roosevelt on Tuesday and Thursday respectfully.
