Lady Goats extend record to 6-0 with win over Tigers

The Lady Goats continued their winning ways during the week with two away matches; first defeating the Cashmere Bulldogs 25-13, 25-13, 25-15 on Tuesday, September 25, and then traveling north to Tonasket where they beat the Tigers in three games 25-16, 25-16, 25-16.
On Tuesday evening in Cashmere, all three squads won their matches. “We had another night with a balanced attack from our hitters,” reported Coach Donene Hendricks. Alisha Love led the team with 9 kills, followed by Izzy Barth combining for 8 kills and 24 assists. Freshman, Jaicee Harris put down 6 kills and Jamie Brunner added 5, while Darby Jenkins, Sydney Austin and Katie McQuaid combined for another 8 kills.
Kelli Bowers returned to the lineup after missing several matches because of a shoulder injury. She had 7 assists and served 12/12 with 1 ace. Amanda VanDiest led the team in digs with 7, and Sydney Austsin and Jamie Brunner had 5 digs each. Swing player Karly Bridgewater came in to set in game three and had 2 assists and served 2/2, while AnnAlise Nelson (swing player) served 4/4 and had 1 dig.
This gave Chelan a 5-0 record before heading to Tonasket.
In Tiger land, the Goats came up with a 25-16, 25-16, 25-16 match to extend their league record to 6-0. The C-squad lost their match, but he J.V. won its match.
“We had some outstanding serving from Jamie Brunner who was 26/26 with 6 aces. “Tonasket had a hard time receiving from Jamie,” Hendricks said.
Izzy Barth has 26 assits and also served well with 3 aces on 10/10 at the line. Defensivley, Alisha Love led in blocks with 3 and Amanda VanDiest and Jamie Brunner combined for 16 digs.
Sydney Austin led the team with 8 kills. Katie McQuaid added 6 kills and Jaicee Harris and Darby Jenkins each had four kills.
“We’ve been road warriors lately,” remarked Hendricks. “It will be nice to be at home Saturday evening.” The Goats host Lake Roosevelt on Saturday, September 29.
Next Tuesday, October 2, Chelan is back on the road to take on the Omak Pioneers and finally land back in their own gymnasium on Thursday evening when the Brewster Bears come to town.
