The Lady Goat Volleyball team has great depth this year. “It’s a nice problem to have,” stated Coach Donene Hendricks after the Goats polished off Omak in three games, 25-12, 25-13, 25-12 in their league opener on Wednesday, September 5.
Not many fans came to the first match, but the high school students were out in force. “They plan on being at each match and being enthusiastic all the time,” said Hendricks. “The girls were having fun and they kept their intensity up throughout the match,” she added. The JV Squad also won all three games of their match reported JV Coach Poirier.
In game one, the Omak girls didn’t give too much competition to the Chelan team who went up 14-2 before Omak could respond with any type of offense. In the end it was a 25-12 rout.
Game two had Omak playing a little better, but they couldn’t stop Chelan’s offense that included nice passing, great sets and equally powerful kills with Izzy Barth showing her power. This game was close until Chelan shut down Omak at 9-7 and went on to win game two 25-13.
Game three was more of the same with the Omak coach calling a timeout with Chelan out front 13-6. The final was 25-12.
Chelan played the Sunfair Tournament on Friday, September 7. GoLakeChelan is still waiting for the results of those matches and the statistics from Wednesday’s match with Omak.
They travel to Brewster for their second league match on Tuesday, September 11, and then play Okanogan on Thursday at home.
