Kim Harter had a huge night for the Chelan Lady Goats pulling down eight rebounds and scoring 11 points to help Chelan to its 68-29 victory over the Okanogan Bulldogs.
Lady Goats score huge 68-29 win over Okanogan

Coach Dane Lewman was pretty happy with his team’s efforts against the Okanogan Bulldogs on Saturday evening, January 5. “I want you to note that Sidney Austin had only one turnover all night long,” said Lewman. “That has been her Achilles heel so far, but tonight she played a much more controlled game.”
The Lady Goats were coming off a huge win at Cashmere on Friday. “The girls pushed with a full court press in that game and when they push, they win.”
The Okanogan Bulldogs battled very well with the Lady Goats in the first quarter and it looked like the Goats were in for a tight game, but they came out in the second quarter of play with better rebounding and more scoring opportunities which had them outscoring the Bulldogs 19-11 to end the first half in the lead 30-22.
It was after the break that Chelan broke open the floodgates, holding Okanogan scoreless while pumping in 23 more points to end the third 53-22. The girls continued to put pressure on Okanogan in the fourth quarter with the bench coming in and continuing the pressure. The game ended with Chelan winning 68-29.
“I was nervous in the first quarter,” said Lewman. “They are a very physical team. Lewman was very happy with Kim Harter’s play under the basket. “I told her to go in and clear the glass defensive and offensively. She did that tonight. The rebounding was huge.” Lewman likes to say that when you rebound well, you will win games.
Harter led the rebounding effort with eight followed by Kristen Milliette and Alisha Lover who both had seven. Included in that mix was freshman Taylor McClellan who came off the bench in the third quarter and pulled down seven rebounds, four of which were on the offensive side of the court.
Alisha Love and Kelli Bowers had 15 points and 13 points respectively followed by Harter with 11. Darby Jenkins pumped in eight more points and pulled down five rebounds to round out this high scoring effort. Sidney Austin added eight points to the mix.
Chelan hosts the Cascade Kodiaks on Tuesday, January 8, with varsity play beginning around in the high school gymnasium.
