After the Lady Goats drew a bye and defeated Okanogan 8-0, the team faced rival Cascade in the championship game. The Kodiaks were the only team to beat Chelan during the regular season.

Chelan won the championship game against the Lady Kodiaks by a score of 4-1 with Kim Harter pitching all seven innings, giving up only one run on three hits, five walks and 11 strikeouts. Harter was recently named Most Valuable Player in the Caribou Trail League for the third year in a row. Anna Pickett was behind the plate. “She did an amazing job,” reported Coach Jeff Barker. “Defensively, we had no erros and probably played the best game of the year against Cascade.”

Chelan's seniors were proud of their accomplishments this year and took the time to pose for Photographer Tracy Williams with the District Trophy

Offensively, the team had nine hits and only one strikeout. “The girls did a great job putting the ball in play and keeping the pressure up on a very good team,” said Barker.

Alisha Love, back from an injury, was outstanding in the lead-off roll hitting 3 for 4 with one sacrifice fly. Amanda Van Diest was 2 for 4 and Kilee Lippincott, Kim Harter, Anna Pickett and Jamie Brunner all had a hit in this game.

“I am very proud of the intensity and the commitment these girls played with on Saturday and I want to thank them for that,” said Barker.

Before getting to the Championship game, Chelan had to play the Okanogan Bulldogs. They came away with a 8-0 victory with Kim Harter pitching the first four innings and AnnAlise Nelson relieving her for the final three innings. Harter gave up one hit, no walks and had nine strikeouts in her four innings. Nelson gave up two hits, one walk and had four strikeouts in her three innings. “She did a nice job out there,” said Barker.

Offensively, Chelan had 10 hits with Kim Harter going 1 for 3 with a double; Anna Pickett and Alisha Love going 2 for 4; Jamie Brunner going 3 for 4 with a triple; and Taylor McClellan hitting a 2 RBI single after fouling off a dozen pitches.

Chelan will play its first Regional game on Thursday, May 15, at Sterling Park in East Wenatchee beginning at 3 p.m.
