After losing their only game to Cascade earlier in the year, the Lady Goats were determined to go to Cascade and beat them on their home turf. It wasn’t easy, but Chelan came away with a 5-4 victory to tie the Kodiaks for first place in the CTL. Both teams now have a record of 10-1.
“Last night (Thursday, April 17) we had a barn burner,” reported Coach Jeff Barker. “This game went into extra innings finishing with Chelan on top 5-4 in the eighth.”
Chelan scored three early runs, but Cascade came back to tie the game up at 3-all in the bottom of the sixth. “We started the eighth inning with the middle of the order,” said Barker. “The girls did a great job putting the ball in play and pressuring Cascade’s defense.’
Chelan scored two runs and Cascade answered in the bottom of the eighth with two runners on base, but were only able to bring one across the plate, leaving the tying run on third base. “This was a huge win for us,” Barker added.
“Cascade had a better pitching performance, but the Goats were able to out hit them 11 to 5.
On the mound, Kim Harter gave up four runs on five hits, four walks and 11 strikeouts. Anna Pickett was behind the plate.
Offensively, Lyndsey Fox was 1 for 4 with a big RBI in the eighth.. Kilee Lippincott went 1 for 5 with a double. Anna Pickett and Jamie Brunner were both 3 for 4 at the plate with Brunner picking up a double.
