Chelan’s Lady Goats were on target defensively and offensively against the Brewster Bears on Tuesday, April 15, beating them in five innings of strong play 10-5.
On the mound, Kim Harter only gave up one hit and one walk while striking out 12. Anna Picket posted another outstanding day behind the plate. The infield and outfield didn’t have much work to do as Brewster couldn’t get a bead on Kim’s pitches.
On the offensive side, however, the Ladies came out hitting and posted 13 hits with not one strikeout on the day.
Kilee Lippincott was 3 for 3 with four runs scored. Jamie Brunner slammed a homerun, picked up four RBIs with a 3 for 4 day at the plate. Kim Harter, Chelan’s power hitter came up with another homerun to add to the score. First baseman Amanda Van Diest went 2 for 3 and Taylor McClellan was 1 for 1 at the plate.
“This pushes our record to 9 - 1,” said Coach Jeff Barker. “We have a huge game on Thursday against Cascade who are 10 – 0 at this time.” Cascade is the only team to beat Chelan this year, but it was a close one with the Lady Goats leaving the tying run on third base at the end, losing the first game 3-2.
“If the girls play like they did today, I think we can beat Cascade,” said Barker. ‘We just need to keep the bats going and not make defensive errors.”
