Chelan wins opening doubleheader against Grandview last week

Chelan opened their home baseball season against Orting on Saturday, March 15, and once again found themselves on the losing end to this perennial powerhouse 15-3.
Roy Figueroa went four strong innings on the mound, giving you two earned runs on four hits, three strikeouts and five walks. It was a good day to run pitchers into the game and give them a live workout. After Figueroa, Coach Burbery had Josh Burbery pitch an inning and he gave up two earned runs on three hits, one strikeout and three walks.
Greg Schultz, defensively wowed the fans with an incredible diving catch in the outfield. He flew about 10 yards through the air to make a spectacular catch, reported Coach Burbery.
Greg was pulled out of the outfield to replace Burbery on the mound and pitched for 2 1/3 innings, giving up no earned runs while striking out two and walking three. Joe Harris was next up and he went for 2/3 of an inning and gave up one earned run on one hit, struck out two and gave up no walks. Figueroa took the 15-3 loss.
Offensively Joe Harris was 2 for 3 at the mound followed by Greg Schultz, Roy Figueroa and Josh Burbery who were all 1 for 3 for a total of five hits.

On March 8, Chelan opened its baseball season in Wenatchee against Grandview and posted two wins in a doubleheader at the Apple Sox stadium.
Twenty players attended the game and all saw some playing time. I was very pleased with their performance, especially considering they had only been able to spend two days on the field (all other practices were held in the gym!), reported Coach Burbery.
