Ice cream, chocolate and whipping cream was on the menu at the Monday night Ice Cream Social organized as a send-off for the departing Lady Goats, who are leaving Tuesday, February 26, for their eighth consecutive trip the State Basketball Tournament.
Joining the players and coaches at this send-off were parents, grandparents, fans and, of course, a number of boys basketball players and wrestlers who couldn’t turn down a free dish of Vanilla ice cream with chocolate brownies and whipping cream.
Athletic director Scott Raab noted that the girls not only carried a high GPA through the season, not one of them was ever called into his office for any disciplinary action what-so-ever.
Team Captain Izzy Barth thanked everyone present for all of this season’s support.

The Lady Goats are making their eighth consecutive trip the state tournament which is quite a feat. In seven of those years, they competed at the 2A level and are now competing at the 1A level. In eight out of the nine years competing at this level, the girls have returned with a trophy and Chelan’s Lady Goats were the 2004 State Basketball Champions.
The Lady Goats (18-6) get underway at on Wednesday morning, February 27 against the Columbia-Burbank (20-3). “There’s a reason they are the number one seed in their league,” said assistant coach Tracy Williams. “If the girls can play with the same intensity and passion that they have over the past two games, they should do well.”
Follow the games live on GoLakeChelan.com with Dennis Rahm as he and Dave Rogge as they sit courtside. The print version, plus photos from the action will be posted as soon as possible following each game over the course of the State Tournament.
