The Chelan boys and girls basketball teams have two more league games to go before preparing for the District Playoffs. Last Friday night in Okanogan, the Goats prevailed over the Bulldogs with the boys winning handily 75-55 and the girls coming up with a 52-43 victory to extend their league records to 11-1 respectivley.
The Goats are now in first place since Lake Roosevelt lost two games. However, The Goats still have to face the Raiders this coming Friday night in Chelan, and if both the Goats and Raiders win their Tuesday night games, Fridays will decide whether or not Chelan will be league champions or if they lose to the Raiders, share the league championship.
For all intents and purposes, the Goats are playing the game with tremendous balance. At Okanogan, four players were in double figures on the scoreboard with Joe Harris scoring 18 points followed by Cam Reister with 17, Brett Linehan with 14 and Derrick Talley off the bench with 10 points. Once again Harris led the statistics with five rebounds, his 18 points, four assists, one block and three steals, giving the fans one more look at his versatility as a sophomore.
Chelan outscored Okanogan in every quarter but the fourth and ran away with this game.
The boys travel to Tonasket on Tuesday, February 5, to take on the Tigers before coming home for the final game Friday, February 8.
